5 rings + a plethora of astounding athletes

Workers on the roof of the Beijing South Railway Station on Tuesday. The station will be put to use August 1 as a sophisticated railway hub between Beijing and Tianjin during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

There’s a lot of talk about the 2010 Olympic games on Seattle radio. It will be held in Vancouver, B.C. (so close!) and they’re already freaking out about traffic across the border. I heard about a proposal to give WA residents a license which allows free travel to and from B.C. for the games. How wonderful would that be? I guess I’m only excited about it because I happen to live here. For you’s guys outside of the state, no such luck.

Growing up, watching the Olympics was always a big to-do. I remember knowing which sports were on certain nights and waiting anxiously for them to begin (after I completed all of my algebra, of course.) I am not so much into them now, but get excited about the possibility of going in two years since they’ll be so close.

Is anyone going to the games in Beijing? I can’t imagine the implications of having it there…the crowds, the traffic, the litter.

It seems I’ll be able to see those effects first hand in a few years. Would love to hear people’s Olympic experiences if you’ve gone before.

Goodbye for now. Must leave to go beat my world record of getting ready for work. I’m already 4.2358084 seconds behind. I love you.
